Secret Garden
Everyone has his own "secret garden"...
اورهان باموق - الكتاب الاسود

I just chose the book I'm reading next..
Its for the great Turkish writer Orhan Bamuk.. called "The Black Book" and I have it in Arabic translated by AbdulKadir AbidAlly published by Dar Almada 2003.
A book of 611 high-quality pages, a red page cover (not the same as the original, too bad).. and in nice arabic font print.
why?
I felt like reading Orhan Bamuk now, his books occupy your mind during and after reading them. and I need something to distract me from my reports and therapy plans I'm doing this period. His books also make you feel like living in Turkey, live the daily life there and the history as well.. and I just love Turkey.
I already bought most of his books, such as "My Name Is Red" (that was a unique book and very nice), "Snow", "The New Life", and "The House of Silence"..
So.. we'll see about this one.

oh, and here's Orhan Bamuk official site, I recommend visiting it..

well that's kinda right. but Abdul kader is the best unfortunately. we pray to have another Saleh Almany. i've read all of Harry Potter series in english to keep away from bad translation.
by the way i enjoyed lot the 2nd chapter. the artcle of Galal about Bosfur.

no doubt that English books should be read in English.. unfortunately, also books in foriegn languages! I think I'm gonna try Orhan Bamuk's english editions next time.
I liked the 2nd chapter too, I think Orhan is so good at description and metaphor, not as many writers who are boring and shallow when it comes to this.

I'm still reading it because I had to stop for a while and read "زمن الخيول البيضاء" ..
so far it's very good.. the translation to arabic is bad. But still I'm enjoying Orhan's ideas, characters and events..

good morning

i've read about it too the it's the same level of " my name is red" so we will like it.

actually i trust him and believe that i won't regret reading any of his works. he is one of few writers who won Nobel and deserve that.

Good evening..
I say, besides he's Orhan Pamuk, there's no such thing as a "bad book".. there's always something you can learn about any book.
it might be less good than "My name is red" or "the black book" but I'm sure it's good!

I agree that there's a black list of books.. and I can include books that cross red lines in Islam for example.. but I still consider them "Books"!
what do you have in your black list? interesting to know!

Good morning Haya.
